The International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies supports diversity and innovation in research. All members of the team are active researchers producing highly regarded outputs across the spectrum of coaching and mentoring questions and contexts. Our faculty and students research internationally in areas such as social change, health and well-being, diversity, education, leadership, global business. We host collaborations with associates from across the university’s schools and departments building knowledge across disciplines.

Members of the academic team at The International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies at Oxford Brookes University are actively involved in writing for practitioners. Our aim is to stimulate practitioner and stakeholder debate about the values and effectiveness of practice and rigorous coaching research. For example, from March 2015 our team holds a column “Research matters”, in Coaching at Work, the largest practitioner magazine Coaching at Work, where we regularly publish brief versions of evidence-based research outputs.
The staff of The International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies at Oxford Brookes support students in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and understanding of coaching practice. The International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies is well-known in the coaching world for two successful conferences that we lead yearly. The first is the Annual Coaching and Mentoring Research Conference that began in 2004: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/iccams/conferences-and-events/annual-coaching-and-mentoring-research-conference/. The second is the International Conference in Coaching Supervision: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/iccams/conferences-and-events/8th-international-conference-on-coaching-supervision/, which in alternative years becomes Coaching Supervision Colloquium.
Many organisations that introduce coaching programmes wish to ascertain the value these programmes provide for the organisation. Our team is experienced in small and large scale methodologies designed to establish the extent of the contribution coaching programmes provide.
