The Ashridge Center for Executive Coaching is an internationally recognized innovator and provider of standards for the profession of coaching.
Academic research from the Ashridge Centre for Coaching typically runs to a minimum of 10 publications every year since 2005, including the largest-scale study of effectiveness in the field (published in the Consulting Psychology Journal in 2016), eight qualitative studies around Critical Moments in Coaching and two Randomized Controlled Studies in realistic settings. Our research focus is on consulting and coaching, as it takes place in real settings with real clients. It encompasses quantitative outcome research studies as well as qualitative and narrative research.
The aim of the Ashridge Centre of Excellence has been to build bridges between science and practice, and to promote rigorous, academically sound, and ethical foundations for the executive coaching field. Research from the Centre for Coaching informs our MSc in Exec Coaching, our PG Dip in Organizational Supervision, and our own executive coaching practice. The Centre is also recognized for driving the growing interest in relational coaching as a particularly powerful and effective approach for helping conversations, which is integrative, broadly humanistic and courageous from moment to moment.
We aim to publish at least 10 articles, chapters or reports and we have managed this nearly every single year since our foundation in 2005.
We produce up to 25 MSc dissertations every year and many of our MSc graduates carry on to do the Professional Doctorate at Ashridge or the PhD programme of the VU Business School, with a research question within executive coaching.
