Key purpose

We aim to enhance the performance and quality of life of individuals, organisations and the broader community through excellence in education, research and the practice of coaching psychology.

1. Conducting research of publishable quality in peer-refereed journals

We publish in all leading coaching journals as well as a range of general psychology journals on a wide range of coaching-related and coaching-specific research.

2. Publishing research and theory on coaching (excluding self publishing) e.g. handbooks and research-based textbooks
  • Yes

We publish on a wide range of issues related to coaching, from coaching as a methodology to facilitate positive purposeful change; to the role of self-reflection and self-insight in coaching; developmental and systemic issues related to coaching.

3. Publishing non peer reviewed professional articles, reports and books e.g. coaching industry reports; articles in professional magazines; practitioners’ experience-based books
  • Yes

4. Generation of Doctoral theses and Masters dissertations

We supervise doctoral and masters thesis on a wide range of coaching-related issues.

8. Organising conferences that include coaching research strands e.g. conference research papers

We are holding an Evidence-based Coaching Conference on 14th and 15th February 2020 to celebrate 20 years of the University of Sydney Coaching Psychology Unit

10. Generation of documents on good practice and standards e.g. standards of practice and codes of ethics for professional coaching bodies
  • Yes

A key member of our faculty (Dr Micheal Cavanagh) was the principal author of the Australian Standards on Coaching.
