Call for Papers: Topical Collection “Online Coaching”

25th January 2022 by Elke Berninger-Schäfer

The increasing digitalisation of organisational processes, the almost self-evident use of online communication for private and professional purposes, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on working environments show that online coaching is increasingly necessary and, as such, requires further professionalisation.

Therefore, creating an academic basis for online coaching is essential. Such an academic foundation might be based on coaching research, which in itself is spread across various disciplines, but also on media and communication psychology/studies or others. Its quality results from combining coaching, media and media communication competences. The topical collection “Online Coaching” thus intends to increase the academic quality of coaching research and to ensure quality control of online coaching. Both theoretical and empirical contributions (in English or German) can be submitted. Possible topic areas include:

  • Professional development and quality standards
  • Media communication
  • Shaping online relationships
  • Managing an online coaching process from clarifying the concern, to individual (synchronous or asynchronous) coaching sessions and their evaluation
  • Process management within an online coaching session from clarifying the concern, to defining goals and co-constructing solutions
  • Coaching in different medial contexts (coaching via video, audio and chat, coaching via platforms providing coaching tools and processes, avatar coaching, virtual reality)
  • Methods of intervention in online coaching
  • Coaching with (un)guided self-helps and self-monitoring
  • Format and design competence
  • Professional online coaching trainings
  • The future of online coaching: market and market trends
  • Effectiveness research and evaluation

If you are interested in contributing to the topical collection, please send us a short expression of interest to coaching@aau.at or immediately submit your contribution online: www.editorialmanager.com/CTHP. Having successfully undergone a double-blind peer review process, all contributions are published “online first”. For more information on the journal and submission guidelines, see the journal’s website: https://www.springer.com/journal/40896/

We are looking forward to your submissions.
